DUAL champion filly Royal Delta (Bill Mott/Mike Smith) is set to be entered for the Breeders' Cup Classic as well as the Distaff after giving weight and a beating to her female rivals in a massively authoritative performance in the Personal Ensign.

Winner of the last two runnings of the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic, the five-year-old endured a stuttering first half of the year before last month's ten-length victory in the Delaware Handicap.

On Sunday the daughter of Empire Maker, who raced without Lasix, produced an equally commanding display against better foes in the $600,000 Personal Ensign, stalking the leader On Fire Baby before taking over on the backstretch and then cruising home by four and a half lengths from market rival Authenticity, who was getting 6lb.

Sent off at close to 1-2 favourite, Royal Delta recorded a time of 1m48.34s as she landed her sixth Grade 1 triumph to avenge a shock defeat in the same race 12 months previously.

"I just was happy I got away good today and once we did that and she got into her monstrous stride - horses seem to have to take two to her one," said jockey Mike Smith, who missed the Pacific Classic ride on Game On Dude at Del Mar to partner Royal Delta in New York.

"She's a machine," he added. "Down the lane, she got to looking around the track a little bit, so I got after her just a little to keep her going."

Trainer Bill Mott said the Grade 1 Beldame at Belmont on September 28 would provide Royal Delta's final run before a third visit to the Breeders' Cup, where she is set to be entered for both the Distaff and the Classic.
