Classic flop Game On Dude back at Hollywood

Hollywood Park: Native Diver Stakes (Grade 3) 1m1f, AW, 3yo+

MIKE SMITH takes over on Game On Dude (Bob Baffert) as the five-year-old bids to end his season on a winning note after a lacklustre display as favourite for the Breeders' Cup Classic.

With regular partner Chantal Sutherland ushered into retirement as she was jocked off the five-year-old in favour of Rafael Bejarano, the four-time Grade 1 winner dropped right out of Horse of the Year contention when only seventh behind Fort Larned in North America's richest race.

Bejarano now takes over on Game On Dude's former stablemate Richard's Kid (Doug O'Neill), a couple of places (and seven lengths) ahead in the Classic and in receipt of 5lb here. Classic sixth Nonios (Jerry Hollendorfer/Martin Pedroza) also comes back again.

Game On Dude is drawn on the rail in a field of six for Saturday's $250,000 event as he returns to the all-weather track on which he beat Richard's Kid in July in the Hollywood Gold Cup.

A strong field in Grade 3 terms also includes last year's winner Kettle Corn (John Sadler/Garrett Gomez).
