Breeders' Cup winner Calidoscopio retired
USA: Breeders' Cup Marathon winner Calidoscopio, who produced an unforgettable performance to win the Brooklyn Handicap earlier this month, has been retired.
According to the Daily Racing Form, the Argentine-bred nine-year-old came out of his Grade 2 victory at Belmont with heat in a leg.
Calidoscopio became the first South American-trained horse to win at the Breeders' Cup last year with a last-to-first triumph in the Marathon for former trainer Guillermo Frenkel.
In the Brooklyn Handicap, he was more than 20 lengths adrift with half a mile to go before circling the field for a stunning success.
