Californian-based Bejarano hits 2,000
USA: Jockey Rafael Bejarano recorded his 2,000th career victory at Hollywood Park on Thursday when he guided Good Time Sally to win the fifth race on the card for trainer Kathy Walsh.
Bejarano, 27, a native of Peru, began riding in southern California in the autumn of 2007 after experienceing great success in Kentucky.
He went on to top the jockeys' table in all five major meetings in the state last year.
"I am glad to be here," he said. "My agent (Joe Ferrer) has done a great job."
Bejarano's richest victory came abaord champion Ginger Punch in the 2007 Breeders' Cup Distaff for Bobby Frankel, and he also won the 2005 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf with Intercontinental for the same trainer.
