Ballydoyle star Wrote fifth-best in US list
USA: Wrote, who won the Breeders' Cup JuvenileTurf for Aidan O'Brien, takes fifth place in North America's official list of last year's top two-year-olds.
The son of High Chaparral has been awarded a weight of 121lb in the 2011 Experimental Free Handicap, 5lb below Hansen and Union Rags, who are joint top-rated on 126.
In effect the US version of the European two-year-old rankings, the Experimental Free Handicap is a weights-based assessment of the previous year's juveniles, always expressed in pounds only perthe US racing custom. The rankings imagine a hypothetical 1m1.2f event on dirt.
Eclipse Award winner Hansen and Kentucky Derby favourite Union Rags, one-two in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile on dirt, head the list from Californian star Creative Cause on 124lb - the same as star filly My Miss Aurelia, who sustained a minor injury after winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.
Hansen was beaten on his seasonal debut by leading Kentucky hope Algorithms.
The Experimental Free Handicap was compiled by racing secretaries from New York, Kentucky and California, representing the three major regions in the country.
Wrote, who has only ever raced on grass, is a 16-1 chance for the Kentucky Derby with Stan James.
