Dubai possible after Relento wins Grade 1
Report: Uruguay, Tuesday
Maronas (Montevideo): Gran Premio Jose Pedro Ramirez (Grade 1) 1m4f, dirt
RELENTO, a four-year-old trained by Ubal Miguez, could be nominated for the Dubai World Cup after winning his ninth consecutive stakes race with victory in Uruguay's most prestigious race on Tuesday.
Under a perfectly executed ride from 19-year-old Uruguayan Jose Maria Silva, the Brazilian-bred son of the Green Desert sire Fahim dictated the pace throughout the Gran Premio Jose Pedro Ramirez at Maronas in the capital Montevideo.
Relento drew clear in the stretch to record his first victory at the highest level by two-and-a-half lengths over Bucaneer, having covered the 1m4f in 2m30.03s on fast ground.
Relento, only fifth in 2008, came here after winning a Grade 2 overthe same course and distance in early December. He has multiple wins at that level to his name in Uruguay.
