Treble Jig on the mark again at Jebel Ali

Report: UAE, Friday

Jebel Ali

Treble Jig (Musabah Al Muhairi/Wayne Smith) maintained his 100 per cent record at Jebel Ali when winning the featured 1m1f conditions prep for the Listed Jebel Ali Stakes next month.

Smith was happy to take a lead from Haatheq before easing to the front two furlongs out, setting a track record in the process.

"He is just a different horse here at Jebel Ali and loves the dirt surface and that steep uphill finish really brings out the best in him," said Smith.

"He has grown up a lot and is not such a tearaway now so I was not concerned to get a lead.

"He quickened well and it was a good effort under his penalty. We will be back in two weeks for the Jebel Ali Stakes and then hopefully two weeks later for the Jebel Ali Mile.

Smith and Al Muhairi, who won the 1m handicap with Trojan Nights, completed a treble when last season's Jebel Ali Sprint winner Russian Rock landed the 6f conditions race.

He will aim for a repeat win in the Listed race in March and Smith said: "Like Treble Jig, this fellow seems to save his best for Jebel Ali and we will try and find a couple more races for him here before March."

Tiz Now Tiz Then (Satish Seemar/Marc Monaghan) was another winner to bag a course record when he claimed the 7f handicap.
