Report: Meydan Saturday

Al Maktoum Challenge R3 Sponsored By Emirates Airline (Group 1) 1m2f, Tapeta, 4yo+

HUNTER'S LIGHT powered clear inside the final furlong under Silvestre de Sousa to land a 200th Group/Grade 1 success worldwide for Godolphin.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained five-year-old, settled in midfield with Christophe Soumillon making the running on the Mike de Kock-trained Daddy Long Legs, continued his progression, coming through with ease and pulling clear of a high-class field.

Having won four of his last five starts, all in Group company, Hunter's Light claimed the biggest success of his career and wrote his name into Godolphin folklore.

The likes of Daylami, Dubai Millennium, Fantastic Light, Lammtarra, Sakhee and Balanchine have all contributed to the top-flight successes, the long list of which was added to 35 minutes later when Sajjhaa made it 201 under William Buick, completing a notable double for Bin Suroor.
