Entifaadha leads Al Muhairi challenge

Preview: UAE, Sunday
Abu Dhabi, 1m handicap
, turf, (2pm GMT)

THE only thoroughbred race at Abu Dhabi on Sunday is a competitive 1m handicap in which Entifaadha (Musabah Al Muhairi/Paul Hanagan), winner of the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York for William Haggas as a juvenile in 2011, heads the weights.

Second for Haggas on his local debut in the Listed Meydan Classic at last year's Meydan Carnival, Entifaadha will be having his second start for Musabah Al Muhairi after a pleasing third on Tapeta in December.

He has to give weight to his 13 rivals and Paul Hanagan rides for main employer Sheikh Hamdan. Hanagan said: "The yard are in great form and he will appreciate the return to turf. It would be nice to think he is a Carnival horse and this is a good opportunity to boost his handicap rating."

The trainer, who saddled four winners at Jebel Ali on Friday, is also represented by Maath Gool (Wayne Smith) and Musaafer, first and second in a course and distance handicap in November.

Stable jockey Wayne Smith rides Maath Gool and said: "I would give all three of ours a big chance, especially with the horses in such great form. There was only a neck between me and Musaafer last time they clashed here and there will be little between them again."

Classic Blade, winner of the Group 2 July Stakes for Tom Dascombe in 2008, is now with Doug Watson and will be ridden by Pat Dobbs, while Mazeydd has his first start for Dhruba Selvaratnam.

Winner of two of his five UK starts for Roger Varian, he will be ridden by Kieren Fallon with stable jockey James Doyle suspended.
