Parish Hall (near): Dewhurst winner had his form boosted at Newmarket

ACTION on and off the track on Thursday saw a reorganisation at the head of the market for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas with Trumpet Major leaping to prominence and ante-post gamble Most Improved sliding out.
The chances of Most Improved lining up at Newmarket on May 5 dimmed a little on Thursday morning when he was found to be "one tenth" lame on his off-fore by trainer Brian Meehan, who pulled the Iraj Parvizi-owned colt out of the Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes in the afternoon.
Ladbrokes pushed the Dewhurst third out to 8-1 (from 4), while Paddy Power eased the Lawman colt to 11-2 (from 4) for Guineas.
In the absence of Most Improved, Trumpet Major was the impressive winner of the Craven and is as short as 6-1 (from 25) with Coral and a general 10-1 chance for the race having been 33-1 in the morning. Ladbrokes are biggest at 12-1.
Trumpet Major hadended his juvenile season with a fifth in the Dewhurst Stakes and his win saw both Dewhurst winner Parish Hall and runner-up Power clipped for the Guineas. William Hill shortened Parish Hall to 14-1 (from 16) and Power to 10-1 (from 12).
Camelot: backed for both Classics
PICTURE: Martin LynchParish Hall is under consideration for the Investec Derby in June but remains on course for Newmarket and his trainer Jim Bolger said: "Parish Hall will start in the 2,000 Guineas, but we have always thought of him as an Investec Derby horse - he proved that when he won the Dewhurst."
Camelot could also run in both the 2,000 Guineas and Derby and hewas shortened to 6-4 for Newmarket and 2-1 for Epsom by Ladbrokes on Thursday, although trainer Aidan O'Brien is yet to make a firm decision on where the unbeaten runner will head.
Ladbrokes spokesmanDavid Williams said: "We weren't enormously taken with the Craven following the defection of Most Improved in the morning. It's been another day where all the action has been off the track with more support for Camelot in both the colts' Classics."
