Triolo set for Gold Cup after working 'really well'
NICKY HENDERSON has added Triolo D'Alene to his team for the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup after a pleasing workout over a mile and seven furlongs with big-race favourite Bobs Worth in Lambourn on Sunday morning.
The champion trainer, who was delighted with all seven festival horses he exercised, said about Triolo D'Alene, whose Gold Cup odds range from 25-1 to 33-1: "Triolo is a high-class horse who has done everything right and the plan is to run in the Gold Cup.
"I was also delighted with Bobs Worth who probably needed this bit of work more than the others and everything is on schedule with him. He'll work again at the end of the week."
With Barry Geraghty on Bobs Worth, who is 7-4 for the Gold Cup, Henderson has yet to engage a jockey for the Hennessy Gold Cup winner, who is also a leading light for the Crabbie's Grand National.
Henderson also revealed that Vaniteux, who was impressive at Doncaster last time, will take his chance in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
He worked over a mile and seven furlongs with Royal Boy, who is on target for the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle, while Captain Cutter, their companion on Sunday, is likely to head for the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.
"That was a really good piece of work by all three horses," Henderson added.
Vaniteux's owner Richard Kelvin Hughes watched the work and said: "Everyone was very happy with him this morning and we're all in agreement he should run."
