So You Think could carry on racing next season

SO YOU THINK could yet race on next season after connections said on Monday they felt he had "shown no signs that he is ready to go to stud".

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, So You Think finished fourth behind Danedream in Sunday's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, a race that had been considered to be among his last before he was retired to stud at the end of the season.

However, Coolmore Australia racing manager Tom Magnier, speaking from Paris, told Sydney's Sky Sports Radio: "We think this horse can keep winning these Group 1 races.

"The trainer thinks there is a helluva lot in the horse's tank. Let's get this season out of the way and I'd say we'd probably continue into next season.

"You can't take anything away from the horse. In the closing stages he kept fighting. He fought on and on and on. We are disappointed he didn't finish closer but there is still plenty of horse to go on with."

Magnier said So You Think's next start could be in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot during British Champions Day on October 15.

Alain de Royer-Dupre: in no rush

"We'll see how he pulls up in the morning but that would be an option that would be seriously considered," Magnier said. "[The Arc] didn't go our way but he's won an unbelievable amount of Group 1s and we want to keep showing the world what he can do."

The season may also not be over for Alain de Royer-Dupre's Arc trio of Sarafina, Reliable Man and Shareta.

"They were all fine this morning, Reliable Man looked like he hasn't had a race," the trainer said. "He's still in the Champion Stakes, and while we might decide against it, if he were well he could run."

He added: "Sarafina was a little quiet on Sunday night, but she was back in good form this morning. There's still the Breeders' Cup for Sarafina in the normal run of things."

Royer-Dupre stressed that nothing would be decided in a hurry, a comment which applies to Shareta, for whom there are currently no plans.
