CURREN BLACK HILL (Osamu Hirata/Shinichiro Akiyama) could be set for Royal Ascot after he landed NHK Mile Cup at Tokyo on Sunday.
A son of five-time Grade 1 winner Daiwa Major, Curren Black Hill was hustled to the front by Akiyama and kicked for home two furlongs out.
He sealed victory by three and a half lengths from Alfredo with Clarente back in third.
He could now head to the royal meeting where he is engaged in the St James's Palace Stakes.
Grand Prix Boss, who won the NHK Mile Cup 12 months ago, headed to Ascot for that race, but was well beaten, finishing eighth of nine behind the mighty Frankel.
