Thousand Stars set for Rebel Fitz clash

HIGH-CLASS hurdler Thousand Stars returns to action in Ireland having excelled in two trips to France this summer.

The Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old, who races in the colours of the Hammer & Trowel Syndicate, faces eight rivals in the Grade 2 Friends Of Tipperary Hurdle.

He boasts the best form, but concedes weight all round.
A decent winner of the Grade 1 French Champion Hurdle in June, Thousand Stars will be ridden by Paul Townend.

Mullins, whose other runner Blackstairmountain will be ridden by Ruby Walsh, said: "He is in good form and the testing ground won't be a problem, but it is his first run back and it could be tough for him against horses who should have a fitness advantage having been in action over the summer."

One of those horses could be Rebel Fitz, the Galway Hurdle winner chasing a four-timer over hurdles.

It is not just jumping at Tipperary with the track hosting the Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes, a Group 3 over 7f for three-year-olds and above.

There are three jumps meetings in Britain at Huntingdon, Kelson and Uttoxeter, while Longchamp stages its brilliant Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe card in France.

Today's going
Huntingdon good
Kelso good to soft, soft in places
Uttoxeter good to soft, soft in places on the chase course
Tipperary heavy on the Flat course, soft to heavy on jumps courses
