Thecornishcowboy bids for Lingfield hat-trick

LINGFIELD'S unprecedented run of eight consecutive racedays draws to a conclusion on Wednesday with one final eight-race programme.

The card is littered with horses that have already been in action at the track over the past seven days, including dual winner Thecornishcowboy (1pm).

A winner on Friday's card, the three-year-old defied a penalty to follow up yesterday and bids for a hat-trick in the 1m2f handicap.

"He can be a bit funny after he races and go off his food and drink but we turned him out after Friday's win and he ate everything we gave him before yesterday's win," said trainer John Ryan.

He added: "All being well he will take his chance again. You can never be sure bringing them back so soon but he usually saves a bit for himself and will hopefully run well again."

David Elsworth turns 73 today and will be hoping Handsome Molly can give him a birthday winner in the 1m2f maiden at 2pm. The trainer also sends two runners to contest the all-weather card at nearby Kempton.

Ireland also get in the all-weather act courtesy of Dundalk's evening meeting, starting at 5.30pm.

Unfortunately there is no jumps action on Wednesday, with the meetings at Hexham and Leicester both having to be abandoned due to frost.
