Centurion McCain hoping Milan is real deal

DONALD MCCAIN became the first trainer in Britain to saddle 100 winners for the season on Wednesday and will be hoping that Real Milan can add to his tally at Ayr on Thursday in the 3m1f novice chase (1.00).

Owned by Grahame and Diana Whateley, Real Milan made a successful start to his career over fences with a simple victory against two rivals at Carlisle last month.

Described as "a fair horse" by McCain following his victory, Real Milan faces five rivals at Ayr, where the going is testing but racing is on after the course passed a morning inspection.

Racing also takes place at Thurles on Thursday where the Grade 3 Beamish Stout Phil Sweeney Memorial Chase (1.25) takes place with Folidubh and Call The Police the two with leading chances.

There is also all-weather action in Britain at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Going:
Ayr:
Heavy
Thurles: Soft to heavy
Lingfield: Standard
Wolverhampton: Standard
