Midnight Sail out to end run of seconds
MIDNIGHT SAIL bids to end a frustrating streak of seconds in the fiercely competitive £15,000 handicap chase (3.10) at Plumpton today.
Having cancelled the need for an inspection, the course will stage the day's richest contest, in which none of the six contenders can be totally ruled out.
Heading the weights is the Evan Williams-trained Firebird Flyer and 1lb below is Midnight Sail, who has filled the runner-up spot four times in a row and six out of his last seven races.
His trainer Alan King said: "I don't think he's actually done anything wrong we just keep bumping into one.
"He seems fine, he keeps creeping up in the weights which is the unfortunate thing, but I hope he runs well, the ground would be as soft as he'd want really but it's a good prize and we thought we'd better support it."
The ground is soft, while the all-weather meetings at Lingfield and Wolverhampton are standard.
