James Tate after Listed win with El Manati

JUVENILE fillies take centre stage on Salisbury's card today, as El Manati bids to keep James Tate's great run of form going in the Listed Dick Poole Stakes.

Tate sent out seven winners in August, and is already on the board this month with Excel Yourself scoring at Leicester on Tuesday.

It was at Leicester that El Manati broke the track record in a maiden over 6f, and she could take in this en route to bigger things, as her trainer mentioned after that race the Middle Park could come under consideration.

Today's race will be a good examinationof her credentials, with the likes of Jadanna, Rayaheen and Winning Express all in opposition. Also on the card Baheeja will attempt to extend her winning sequence to four in the valuable 7f handicap.

Trainer Roger Varian said: "She's got a decent chance. This is a step up again and it's going to be competitive, but she's improving and is off a decent racing weight."

Away from Salisbury, the first of Haydock's three-day Sprint Cup meeting begins, while there is also action from Sedgefield, Kempton and Clonmel in Ireland.

Haydock: Good to firm, good in places.
Salisbury: Good
Sedgefield: Good to firm (watered).
Kempton: Standard
Clonmel: Flat, yielding. Jumps, good.
