In-form McCain bids for more glory at Worcester

TRAINER Donald McCain, who boasts at 33 per cent strike-rate in the last 14 days, bids to maintain that good run at Worcester today when he saddles Hurraboru in the novice hurdle.

The mount of Jason Maguire made a successful start to his hurdling career when hacking up by 13 lengths at Perth last month and is the 11-10 forecast favourite.

Dr Richard Newland is the only trainer with a better strike-rate than McCain in that period and his sole runner today could also go close.

Victory for Stage Acclaim, chasing a hat-trick, in the handicap hurdle at Worcester would be a fourth winner for Newland from his last eight runners.

The Flat turf action comes from Catterick today, while Kieren Fallon, Frankie Dettori and William Buick are among the jockeys riding at Kempton this evening.
