Classy hurdler Go Native set for Flat comeback
TOP-CLASS hurdler Go Native, who was sent off favourite for the 2010 Champion Hurdle but has not raced since, returns to action on the Flat at Navan.
Trained by Noel Meade, the 2009 Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner was virtually pulled up behind Binocular in the Champion, finishing tenth of 12.
He returns in the October Maiden at Navan, which will be his first run on the Flat.
Meade said: "He's ready to run but he's not ready to win. He'll need this run and hopefully it will just be a starting point and we can go back to hurdles afterwards."
Go Native, owned by the Docado Syndicate, is 50-1 with Champion Hurdle sponsor Stan James for this season's Cheltenham highlight.
Flat racing in Britain comes from Nottingham and Kempton, while there are jumps meetings at Ludlow and Towcester, where the Charlie Longsdon-trained Hazy Tom, a smart novice hurdler last term, is set to make his debut over fences.
Nottingham good to soft, soft in places
Towcester good to firm
