Tigress lands surprise Danish Derby win

LIGHTLY-RACED filly Tigress Eleven (Hanne Bechmann/ Nikolaj Stott) was a surprise winner of the Dansk Derby, although she was certainly bred for the job.

She is by Academy Award, Scandinavia's champion stallion, out of Kutbeya, a top middle-distance performer in these parts and dam of two Derby runner-ups - one in Norway and one here. 

Tigress Eleven was unraced at two, and beat five previous winners when making a winning debut on this track in April, before flopping at Aarhus (Jutland) earlier this month.

Runner-up Alvin and third-placed Cantenac had finished fourth and first respectively in the Danish 2,000 Guineas.
