A FULL day of racing takes place in Britain and Ireland on Saturday after Newcastle passed a morning inspection and the enigmatic Tidal Bay goes for glory in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury (3.10).

Trained by Paul Nicholls, who won the race twice as a jockey and three times as a trainer, Tidal Bay has been successful in his last two starts.

Nicholls said: "Tidal Bay is in top form and has won his last two for us including over hurdles at Wetherby on his reappearance the other day. Obviously it's a tough ask off top-weight but he's in there with a good shout."

Down at the bottom of the weights, jockey Sam Waley-Cohen could be putting up overweight on his mount Frisco Depot.

Trainer Charlie Longsdon said on The Morning Line: "I don't think Sam will be able to do the weight although he'll be trying his hardest. I've said to him I don't want you so weak you can't ride the horse and would rather you're 2lb overweight and ride the horse properly."

Newcastle passed a morning inspection and the going is testing for the Fighting Fifth meeting while racing also takes place at Towcester, Fairyhouse and Wolverhampton.
