Testosterone too classy for Further Flight rivals
Report: Nottingham, Wednesday
E.B.F. Betfred Barry Hills Further Flight Stakes (Listed) 1m6f inner course, 4yo+
THE money came and Testosterone delivered with minimal fuss as she swatted aside her rivals at Nottingham.
The quirkily-named mare was backed into 6-4 in the run up to the off and replaced Sir Graham Wade at the top of the market.
Racing behind the race-fit Handazan and The Bull Hayes, Testosterone was manoevered to make her challenge with half a mile to run and hit the front a furlong later under rider Ryan Moore.
A Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed in France in 2011 before being purchased by Nurlan Bizakov and moved to Ed Dunlop early last year, Testosterone was a cut above the rest of the field and strode out to a comfortable three-and-a-quarter length win from Earth Amber and Handazan.
Dunlop said: "She had a major sinus operation last year and she was pretty sick and I could never get her right. I suggested she was retired and she went back to the owner's stud blossomed and was sent back.
"I'm delighted to get her back on track. The ground suited and we'll probably drop back in trip and stick to our own sex. The Lancashire Oaks will probably be the plan. Ryan said not to go further and I think he's right."
