Teal bullish Steele Tango can shine at Meydan
STEELE TANGO will make his Dubai Carnival debut at Meydan on Thursday and trainer Roger Teal is confident the six-year-old can make the grade.
Owned by the Thirty Acre Racing Partnership, Steele Tango has not won since the 2009 Darley Stakes, but showed his wellbeing by finishing second in that race last year and in the Cambridgeshire, in which he was three-quarters of a length behind Credit Swap.
Ryan Moore will partner Steele Tango, who was named 2010 Epsom Horse of the Year, for the first time in the Master Collection Handicap over 1m1f on turf.
"We are incredibly excited about Steele Tango's first trip to Dubai," said Teal
"The snow in the UK may have meant we got one less serious bit of work into him than we would have liked, but we have big hopes for him.
"He arrived safely and is looking fantastic ahead of the 2011 campaign. His win in the Darley Stakes in 2009 and second in the Cambridgeshire proved to us that we should be aiming for the bigger races with him."
Teal added: "I'm confident in Steele Tango's ability and if we weren't aiming for races which are in his class then I would be doing him a disloyalty."
