Darlan - Taunton 09.01.2012

Darlan extends run with impressive Taunton win

Report: Taunton, Monday Novices' Hurdle (Class 3) 2m1f, 4yo+

DARLAN extended his unbeaten record to fourwith an impressive win under a cool ride from Barry Geraghty.

The Nicky Henderson-trained five-year-old was sent off the 10-11 favourite and although he finished just half a length in front of market rival Jump City he could have won this by a lot further.

Geraghty brought his mount upsides long time leader Giordano Bruno as they straightened up and while Ruby Walsh and Jump City kept in touch, Darlan was travelling much the better.

When asked how good the winner is, Geraghty said: "It is hard to say. He travels sowell but he was good today."

Giordano Bruno, sent off into an immediate lead under Richard Johnson, faded late on what was his first start since finishing third in the Aintree bumper in 2009, finishing 15 lengths behind the runner-up.
