Pricewise fans in clover as Stormy flies home

Report: Musselburgh, Saturday

John Smith's Scottish County Hurdle 2m, 4yo+

FOLLOWERS of Pricewise could not have been happier with the result of the Scottish County Hurdle after Tom Segal tipped the first two home - Stormy Weather and Ubi Ace - at 12-1, making it five winning Saturdays from six for the tipping genius.

Stormy Weather, who returned at 13-2, collared the gallant Ubi Ace under a cool ride from Denis O'Regan.

The runner-up, carrying 11st 12lb, went clear up the home straight and looked as if he had the race sewn up jumping the last but Stormy Weather, trained byBrian Ellison, caught him with 50 yards to run and won with a bit in hand.

Dontpaytheferryman, also trained by Ellison, ran on strongly to snatch third while 4-1 favourite Ingleby Spirit could not sustain his challenge up the inside rail after the last.

Ellison said the winner could now head to the County Hurdleat the Cheltenham Festival next month, although he feared he might not get in.

"I thought it might be a bit sharp for him round here and I was hoping he'd get there. I think he will go for the County Hurdle but he might not get in so I may have to run him again, which is something I wouldn't want to do."
