Southwell calls early inspection on Wednesday

SOUTHWELL will hold an inspection at 6am on Wednesday for the jump fixture at the track later that day.

Snow started to fall at the course on Tuesday morning althoughclerk of the course Roderick Duncan remains optimistic the meeting would be on if the forecast did not change too much.

He said: "The forecast is changing a little bit and we've had a bit of light snowfall this morning. You couldn't describe it as a covering but it's been snowing further north than us and they have had a bit of a cover.

"I thought it prudent to call an inspection but if the forecast is correct we should have no problems and the rain has moved to after racing now."

He added: "It got down to -2C last night which was enough to cap the fillings from the last meeting but it's forecast to be 3C today and 3C overnight."

The goingat Southwell was described as good to soft, soft in places on Tuesday morning.
