Improving Jinx handed Champions Day target

HIGH JINX, who narrowly failed to land the Stobart Doncaster Cup last week, could next run in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot on October 20.

Trained by James Fanshawe, High Jinx followed up his solid second in the Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup at York last month with another excellent performance at Doncaster last Friday.

However, he just failed to reel in rapidly improving stayer Times Up, who also got the better of him at York. But connections are now looking at running him on Champions Day - with the Prix du Cadran on Arc weekend also in the mix.

A quote on Fanshawe's website said yesterday: "Graham Lee felt that High Jinx had learnt a lot at York and that he was far more mature at Doncaster.

"He is now heading for either the Prix du Cadran or the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup on Champions Day."

The yard also had news on Betfred Sprint Cup winner Society Rock, who could next run in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes. Fanshawe won the race with Deacon Blues last year.

"Rocky is bucking higher than ever and his coat still looks amazing but it is still four weeks until his next race which will be the Qipco Champion Sprint at Ascot on October 20."
