So Young

So Young on top again for Mullins at Navan

THE Willie Mullins-trained So Young justified odds-on favouritism for the third race running when he landed a 2m hurdle at Navan on Sunday.

Ridden by Ruby Walsh, last year's Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle third raced at the front of the four-runner field and had too much class for his rivals, recording a seven-and-a-half length verdict.

Trifolium briefly looked like giving the 1-3 winner a race, but was well beaten in second.

"Ruby wasn't afraid to make it - we expected more pace in the race but he did it well from the front," said Mullins, who trains the six-year-old sonof Lavirco for Mrs M McMahon.

"He has lots of stamina, and I think his best trip is way beyond that."

So Young is likely to be entered in the Stan James Champion Hurdle and Ladbrokes World Hurdle and is 50-1 and 14-1 with the sponsors for those races.

"Probably the Boyne Hurdle [over 2m5f] here in Ferbruary is the next natural target," added Mullins.
