Smugglers Gold backed for Lily Agnes glory

CHESTER'S May meeting opens with an ultra-competitive running of the Manor House Stables-backed Lily Agnes Stakes at 1.45pm but that hasn't put punters off, who have nailed their colours to the David Evans-trained Smugglers Gold.

Last month's Lingfield winner was well-supported with Paddy Power this morning and is now vying for favouritism at 9-2 (from 9).

An hour later it will be stayers in the spotlight for the day's feature race, the StanJames.com Chester Cup, where the Hans Adielsson-trained Buckland is Paddy Power's best-backed challenger.
