Lame Ask ruled out of  Lonsdale Cup bid

ASK, who won the Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup, Investec Coronation Cup and Prix Royal-Oak last year, will miss Wednesday's Group 2 Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup on day two of the York Ebor meeting.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained seven-year-old has been ruled out with a vet's certificate due to lameness.

Patrick Fahey, who owns the son of Saddler's Wells said: "I don't think it's serious. The vet is coming to look at him today. There was a bit of heat in a knee. It wasenough to stop him running which is a shame because he had an outstanding chance."

Ask has only run once this season when finishing fifth in the  Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on his first try over further than 2m.
