TELESCOPE, a one-time hope for this year's Derby, marked his eagerly awaited reappearance in superb style when slamming his two rivals at Leicester.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt was ruled out of the Derby with a sore left shin after previously missing the Dante, his intended Derby trial, with an infection caused by grazes to his legs.

The son of Galileo was tucked in behind the early leader Centurius by jockey Ryan Moore in the early stages but his rivals had no answer once he hit the front three furlongs from home with the Highclere-owned colt going on to score by a colossal 24 lengths.

"It will get tougher for him, that's for sure, but he's done nothing wrong on a racecourse," said Stoute. "It's been frustrating, especially for connections but hopefully we can get on our way now."

Telescope's dominant victory has caught the eye of the bookmakers with Coral quoting 7-2 that he wins a Group 1 this season as well as going 16-1 (from 25-1) for the Arc, while BetVictor have gone 8-1 (from 12) for the St Leger.

Stoute added: "We've got quite a few possibilities, we'll go home and see how he comes out of it and make a plan in a week's time.

"He's had a good workout and that's the main thing."
