Shutthefrontdoor on trial for Cheltenham Festival
CARLISLE has been given the go-ahead to race and that means the promising Shutthefrontdoor can test his Cheltenham Festival credentials.
Representing the Tony McCoy-Jonjo O'Neill-JP McManus combination, Shutthefrontdoor is entered in the Neptune and Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham, but could be one for the handicaps according to his trainer.
The six-year-old, beaten just once in six starts, runs over 3m1f for the first time in Carlisle's Pertemps Handicap Hurdle and O'Neill said: "He is bred to get a trip and looks as if he would get this. He was disappointing on his first run then looked very good on his second.
"He's possibly not good enough for the novice races at Cheltenham but we will see if he is good enough for one of the handicaps."
Ludlow also races over jumps, while the all-weather action comes from Southwell and Kempton.
Going
