Scoop6 goes begging after Ashkazar success
DAVID PIPE dashed punters' hopes as the Scoop6 returned after a fortnight's break on Saturday.
His 20-1 shot Ashkazar led home a one-two-three for the yard in the Skybet.com Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham, knocking out the two remaining tickets - on King's Legacy and Le Beau Bai - in the bet's final leg.
That pair were unable to land a blow which means there is a rollover of £50,674 in the win fund carried forward to next weekend and there is £21,717 in the bonus pot. The Scoop6 had not been held thetwo previous Saturdays due to abandonments.
"Despite this weekend's bet comprising several competitive handicaps, two punters still managed to make it through to the final leg, but Ashkazar's victory at 20-1 means that a single Scoop6 winner next Saturday could land up to £150,000," said Totepool spokesman George Primarolo.
A total of £144,784 was bet into the pool on Saturday and there were 302 winners of the place fund, collecting £95.80 each.
