Saturday's cards at Stratford and Thirsk abandoned
SATURDAY'S National Hunt card at Stratford has been abandoned after a night of heavy downpours in Warwickshire.
Eleven millimetres of overnight rainfall left the situation beyond retrieval.
Clerk of the course Stephen Lambert said: "The rain we had last night has taken us to the wire.
"Although we could have struggled on, another 5mm of rain this morning and we'd have been stuffed.
"The forecast is not good at all - that was a factor behind us pulling the plug."
Saturday's meeting at Thirsk was abandoned following a 3.30pm inspection on Friday, and officialscalled for a further inspection at 3pm on Saturday to see if Sunday's card can get the go ahead.
