Monterosso entered for Brigadier Gerard Stakes

MONTEROSSO, winner of the Dubai World Cup on his most recent start, could be back in action at Sandown on Thursday night in the Group 3 Betfair Brigadier Gerard Stakes.

The winner of the world's richest race was one of two Godolphin entries made for the 1m2f contest, which has been reopened after attracting only seven entries.

Godolphin tweeted that five-year-old Monterosso will be included in their duo, along with Hunter's Light, in a race in which The Queen's Carlton House is expected to make his seasonal reappearance.

Godolphin will also be looking for Royal Ascot clues with Opinion Poll, who is no bigger than 14-1 Ascot Gold Cup and features among the 13 entries made for the Betfair-backed Group 3 Henry II Stakes over 2m.

Top Offer could get the chance to rebuild his reputation after a disappointing run in the 2,000 Guineas in the Listed Heron Stakes for three-year-olds.

Also engaged in the mile contest is the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Tales Of Grimm, who won on the same day as Top Offer at Newbury last year but was taken out of the Newmarket Classic after his trainer was unable to get a run into him beforehand.

New Pearl, a leading fancy for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot after making an impressive winning debut at Newmarket earlier in the month, figures among the 15 entries made for the Listed National Stakes for two-year-olds.
