Bethell hoping Rowayton rises to the occasion
TRAINER James Bethell hopes that impressive maiden winner Rowayton takes the step up to Listed company in her stride in the EBF Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes at Salisbury on Thursday.
The Lujain filly won with plenty in hand on her first racecourse appearance at Redcar and connections were then considering a trip to Royal Ascot.
Injury intervened to scupper those plans but Bethell now reports his filly to be back on form and is looking forward to Thursday's event.
"The aim at the moment is to go to Salisbury but she needs two to come out to get a run," said the trainer.
"The original aim had been to send her to Royal Ascot but then she suffered a stress fracture after winning her maiden at Redcar, so we had to give her the time off and, touch wood, she's back in form now.
"It's quite a toughorder stepping into Listed company but she's a nice filly and you don't know until you try.
"I would be worried if the ground got heavy but we're hopeful of a nice run and Philip Robinson, who won on her, takes the ride again."
