Olivier Peslier found a clear run to the line with Solemia but it was a different story for Christophe Lemaire on Shareta, who ran into trouble a furlong out.
Lemaire eventually threaded his way through on the far rail and was making up ground hand over fist onthe even-money favourite, but the line came just too soon.
Solemia, sent off at 14-5, held on by a nose from Shareta, with Siyouma third and Andromeda Galaxy fourth. Barely a length covered the first four.
The Wertheimer brother's racing manager Pierre-Charles Bureau said of the winner: "She was very brave and has now won her Group race. In principle, the filly will come back to Saint-Cloud for the Grand Prix and she will love the longer distance."
Peslier added: "She liked the strong pace but took time to accelerate and I also had a problem to find room to make my challenge."
The Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up Shareta lost little in defeat and trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre said: "I was very happy and she ran well but we were beaten by circumstances. It's sometimes like that and the filly will run in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud next time out all being well."
