Wokingham hero Dandy Boy backed for Jubilee
DANDY BOY returns to the scene of his greatest triumph today as last year's Wokingham winner is back at Royal Ascot seeking a first Group 1 win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
A winner at 33-1 last year, he's a much shorter price this afternoon as punters expect lightning to strike twice for the David Marnane-trained seven-year-old.
Paddy Power went 16-1 this morning but continued support has seen that price melt down to 12-1 and there's every chance he will start at shorter odds.
The same firm also report money for another horse with a fine Ascot record in the race, as Hawkeyethenoo has been backed into 12-1 (from 14).
Only nine go to post for the other Group race on the Royal Ascot card, the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes, and most firms are going 11-4 the field in a wide open contest.
Mount Athos and Ektihaam are vying for favouritism but Paddy Power say Sir John Hawkwood is the one for each-way support, having been nibbled to 8-1 (from 9-1) to give Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore another winner.
The Wokingham looks as competitive as ever but the market suggests Gabriel's Lad is ready to run a big race. Paddy Power went 11-1 when their offices opened but he's a single-figure price now at 9-1 (from 11-1).
