SOLE POWER, one of the leading fancies for the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, is reported to be in good shape for the Group 1 sprint after his recent outing at Haydock.
The Eddie Lynam-trained five-year-old is no bigger than 9-1 for the Ascot race when he is once again set to tackle Bated Breath who finished a quarter of a length in front of him in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock last week.
Sole Power finished eighth in the King's Stand last year and filled the same position on his other visit to Ascot in the Cornwallis Stakes at a two-year-old but Lynam is hoping for a much better showing this time around.
He said: "He's great he only lost two kilos, I lost about four.
"He took the race great, he goes for Ascot [King's Stand] where he's run poorly twice for different reasons.
"Hopefully he can bring his A game, he's consistent now and then he will go for the Nunthorpe."
Sole Power's last win came in the Temple Stakes of last season but he has made the frame five times from nine starts since.
