Mullins pair aiming for more bumper success

WILLIE MULLINS and his amateur rider son Patrick will attempt to extend their amazing run of success in bumpers when Robin Angevin faces five rivals at Punchestown on Saturday.

Ireland's champion trainer has won every bumper in Ireland in which he has had a runner since December 27 and Robin Angevin will be attempting to give him an eight consecutive win.

His son Patrick, Ireland's champion amateur, will be bidding to extend his winning run in bumpers to nine in a row.

The pair combined to win two bumpers at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting with Ballycasey (December 27) and The Bosses Cousin (December 28), while they won with Pride Ofthe Parish at Limerick on December 29.

Their run has continued since the turn of the year with Perfect Gentleman scoring at Cork on January 2, Mozoltov winning at Thurles on January 7 followed by Un Atout at Naas on January 8 and Dr Machini at Fairyhouse on January 11.

Patrick also won the bumper at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day on The Westener Boy, trained by Mags Mullins.
