Cesare jumps plan aborted following injury

CESARE is to have his future reviewed in the spring after returning with a muscle problem following his sole appearance over hurdles at Doncaster in December.

The high-class Flat performer, winner of the Group 2 Summer Mileat Ascot in 2007, posted a decent first attempt over hurdles when third to Alasi, but did not figure amongst last week's entries for the novice hurdle events at the CheltenhamFestival.

The nine-year old has had a spell on the easy list since that effort, but is now back cantering.

Fanshawe said: "Cesare ran an okay race at Doncaster, but lost some muscle down his spine after that - which meant we had to give him an easy time.

"He wasn't lame or anything, but he is now back cantering and we are currently reviewing his future. Heis nine years old now and we have to decide whether to go back on the Flat or retire him."

Winner of nine of his 28 starts to date, Cesare has amassed over £350,000 in win and place prize-money for his owners  Cheveley Park Stud.
