Kempton now under threat from weather
FOG looks like claiming its second victim of the day as Kempton Park is enveloped in thick fog despite the track's best efforts.
The course has scope to delay its twilight meeting an hour from its 3.40 start and clerk of the course Barney Clifford said: "The fog was forecast to clear by 2pm and we have had the lights on since 12.30 to try and help.
"I think it is getting slightly better and we will wait and see and can put racing back an hour if necessary."
If the meeting is lost, the latest London Middle Distance Series Final will be rescheduled but not for tomorrow (that would have to be done by 4pm today).
Those coming on from Lingfield, which abandoned after two races, reported plenty of blue-sky breaks around the M25 before the fog descended around the A3 previous junction to the M3 to Kempton.
The local waterworks and reservoir at the track look to be compounding the weather conditions.
