Colima camp confident of chances in the Oaks

TRAINER Ralph Beckett said on Wednesday that Oaks hope Colima has the right attributes to be a major player in the fillies' Classic at Epsom on Friday.

Beckett won the Oaks with 33-1 chance Look Here in 2008 and Colima is following a similar route after finishing runner-up in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on her second career start.

Colima, who is generally available at 14-1, was among 14 fillies confirmed for the 1m4f contest on Wednesday and the trainer said: "We are happy with Colima. Her work at the weekend was good and we are looking forward to running her.

"I think she has improved for her run at Lingfield. I wouldn't be confident of bridging the gap on Vow; I'm not confident about anything, but we live in hope.

"I think she has the right attributes; she is a well balanced filly and she has a very good temperament, so both of those are on our side.

"However, whether that is enough to see us over the line in front is a different thing altogether. The ground at Epsom wouldn't concern me at all."

Colima will be up against six fillies from the Aidan O'Brien stable, which included favourite Maybe and Kissed, who will only run if their is ease in the ground.

Paddy Power now offer 4-6 about St Nicholas Abbey in the Coronation Cup after reports suggested Monterosso would miss the race. The firm also offer 5-1 for Beaten Up.
