Hodgson the choice for Southwell punters
THE Peter Bowen-trained Hodgson has been heavily supported to get punters off to a flying start to the week in the first race of the day.
Bowen, who has a 32 per cent strike-rate in chases at the track in the last five seasons, saddles Hodgson, backed into 5-1 (from 14-1), in the 32Red Handicap Chase at 2.10.
While recent form figures might put off some, the eight-year-old is down to a career low mark over fences and it could be significant that the money has come.
At Kempton, punters are taking on Flamborough Breeze, favourite for the 1m2f handicap at 3.20, with Tadabeer, who is into 5-1 having nearly been double that price this morning.
Flamborough Breeze is out to 10-3 (from 7-4) despite her solid recent form over a mile.
