Appleby trio well supported at local track
HE WAS out of luck with stable star Art Scholar in Dubai on Thursday but back at his local track this afternoon punters expect Michael Appleby's good run to continue at Southwell.
Our Ivor scored for the yard at the track on Wednesday and he's a general 10-11 shot (from 13-8) to make it a quick double in the one mile handicap before potentially going jumping.
Appleby's two remaining runners on the card have also been backed to make it a memorable afternoon for the yard.
Dewala is yet to win in ten starts but has been nibbled into 10-3 (from 5-1) to land the fillies' handicap, while course winner Bitaphon is a 7-2 shot (from 11-2) for the 7f handicap.
Assessing the yard's chances, Appleby told At The Races: "The plan had been to go hurdling with Our Ivor but he could be the sort to win two or three here first.
"Dewala's best trip is a mile and three but it's riding deep at the moment and looking at the race I think she has a very good chance.
"Bitaphon is proven at the track and hopefully he will have enough speed to get on the pace and stretch them. I'd say my most likely winner is Our Ivor but Dewala represents the best value for money."
