Racing UK 'confident' despite Setanta concerns

RACING UK on Tuesday night remained "confident" that it will not be forced off air for any period of time should its financially stricken channel operator Setanta collapse.

Telephone callers seeking to sign up to Racing UK on Tuesday met a brick wall in the form of a recorded Setanta message, which said: "We are currently experiencing technical issues which means that we cannot process subscriptions at present. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please call back within 24 hours and we will be glad to help you."

Racing UK press manager Seb Vance said:"Racing UK does have contingency plans in place and, as Simon Bazalgette has said, a stand-alone channel is the likely option should Setanta fall into administration.

"We are confident that the channel can carry on broadcasting, that there won't be blank screens and that the future of Racing UK is safe and secure."
