Pont puts Neptune credentials on line

PONT ALEXANDRE gets the opportunity to bolster his claims for the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when he takes part in the Grade 2 Synergy Security Solutions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown (1.25).

Trained by Willie Mullins for Rich Ricci, Pont Alexandre burst on to the Cheltenham scene with a dominant all-the-way win in the Grade 1 Navan Novice Hurdle on his debut for new connections last month.

The performance promoted him to near the top of the market for the Neptune and Mullins has no concern about testing ground at Leopardstown as his runner attempts to make it two wins from two in Ireland.

He said: "He seemed to handle the heavy ground quite well at Navan, but every pound will count when conditions are very testing as that's what we are expecting today."

Among his rivals are dual Grade 3-winning hurdler Our Vinnie, Ally Cascade and Anonis.

Turf racing in Britain is off on Sunday but there is a 'bumpers for jumpers' card at Wolverhampton.

Going:
Leopardstown:
Hurdles - soft to heavy, soft in places; Chase - heavy
Wolverhampton: Standard to slow
