Racing at Ayr and Huntingdon goes ahead

THERE will be a full set of fixtures on Thursday after Ayr and Huntingdon both got the all clear to stage their jumps meetings.

The tracks called 7.30am inspections but Ayr cancelled the need for one after getting less rain than forecast and shortly after the good news kept coming with Huntingdon passing its check. The ground is heavy at both tracks.

Huntingdon clerk of the course Sulekha Varma tweeted: "Huntingdon: racing goes ahead. 5mm rain in past 24hrs. Heavy ground. The last fence in back straight will be omitted for all chases due to false ground on the take-off side."

Earlier Emma Marley, clerk at Ayr, tweeted: "Inspection cancelled @ayrracecourse lucky to only get 3.5 mm of rain in past 24hrs. Dry day forecast."

The all-weather fixtures at Southwell (start time 12.30) and Wolverhampton (3.50) complete the action.
