TRAINER Robin Bastiman was left worrying about stable star Borderlescott's racing future after he was injured following his victory in the Audi King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on Thursday.
The popular eight-year-old, who is owned by James Edgar and William Donaldson, was sent to Arundel Veterinary Centre after he was found to be lame behind.
The news puts his attempt to win the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York's Ebor meeting on August 20 for a third time inserious doubt and connections will know more about his long-term future on Friday.
"He's gone to Arundel Veterinary Centre in the ambulance," Bastiman said on Thursday night.
"He was fine in the dopebox but when Harvey [Bastiman, groom] took him out he just went lame behind. We are not quite sure what it is.
"It's a kick in the teeth having done so well and won so easily and then that happens. He won't put any weight down onthe leg. It might be something of nothing or it might be a hairline fracture, we're not really sure.
"It's the near hind, around the stifle area. I thought he had put his stifle out but I don't think he has. It's muscle or it could be something worse."
Connections had been celebrating his 13th career success after Kieren Fallon, coming from off the pace, drove
his mount home by half a length to win the King George Stakes, which was being run as a Group 2 for the first time.
